Planting iris?
It all depends on the type of iris.



Bearded iris want dry soil, dig a shallow trench and heap a small mound in the center, place the rhizome (thick part of base) on the mound and the roots on the sides. Bury the roots and leave the top of the rhizome out of the ground.



Siberian, Louisianna, Japanese, and flag iris like wetter places, so the edges of ponds, in low spots, and ditches work well for them. They can also survive in dry areas if watered well.
