They're actually great names independently, and I'd assume the parents chose them because they're reflective of their heritage (possibly German? Just guessing, since both names carry Germanic roots or popular usage). If so, I like them even more! It's wonderful when parents choose sibling/twin names that are stylistically complimentary ... without being obviously matchy, of course.
My only concern is that these *could* possibly be seen as a bit too similar, both being two syllables ending in -is. Not actually a huge deal, but I'd worry that many would assume Clovis a girl, given that similarity.
Again, not a deal-breaker by any means, and both names are great. I'd just take that under consideration before making a final decision. If they absolutely love both names, by all means! Great, traditional, unexpected (but respectable) choices! ;)
Clovis and Iris for twins that are not mine BTW?
Iris is ok... but Clovis??
Reply:I like Iris, but not Clovis
Reply:I think those names are very cute. Awwww.
Reply:My first thought when i read those names was.. "Great names............ if you're naming cows."
Not a very nice thought I know and I'm sorry but you asked for my opinion and that's what it is/was.
Reply:I think Clovis is terrible. That is the ugliest name. I like Iris though. I am guessing that they are boy-girl...in that case, I think that Iris and Travis would be much better. If the poor child named Clovis is a girl, I would go with Iris and Elise.
