When you adjust the iris diaphragm from big aperture to small aperture?reffering to the microscope?

Changing the adjustment on the iris diaphragm changes the size of the cone of light that shines through the specimen. A smaller aperture means a smaller opening. The cone of light will have a smaller diameter.
