they are really good but can anyone tell me what the ugly ducklings about?

The Ugly Duckling is great. It's about a woman who is rather plain, but married to a handsome rich guy. While at a party, violence breaks out. She gets wounded by shots to the face and her husband and child get murdered. The doctor in charge of her facial reconstruction turns her into a beauty...then she seeks revenge on those that injured her and killed her husband and child. It's really good with some good twists. I liked a lot, one of my favorite Johansen novels.

Reply:I've been a fan for a long time...the Ugly Duckling by definition is someone that starts ugly or plain but grows into beauty. Don't remember this story, but I read a lot. Maybe I'll pick it up again.

Try reading Dean Koonz "Lightning" bet you'll like it.
Reply:You really have to read that one. Always told she was ugly, has "accident" and plastic surgery, comes out gorgeous, of course, but the killer is still after her.
