Eurovision winning song, did anyone else think it was a rip off of Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls?
Nooo! lol! I thought it was terrible!!! where did they get those clothes from? they looked skanky! and the ice-skatter! OMG! Was he a man or a woman? lol! I never imagined they could win! They were just awful! But as it is Eurovision...Politics rules!

Reply:cantilena91, you're a star. I immediately knew the song was a rip-off of another song, but I couldn't place it. In the end I googled "eurovision rip off" and found this thread - many thanks for putting me out of my misery!
I completely agree it's the hook in the verse from Wild World with just the occasional harmony to vary the vocal. We were shocked when it won - it didn't even make the top 10 in our house.

Reply:I will check with the Goo Goo Doll comparison. But to me, the song does contain some elements of "You Are Everything" by The Stylistics. Especially in the bridge and chorus.
Reply:Well, for me the beginning of the piece was more like a rip-off from "Wild World" by Cat Stevens (currently Yusuf Islam)! Latvian pirates were much better (and Ter?sbetoni, our own entry too)!
