Should Ronan Keating be shot for doing an abysmal cover of Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls?

This is one of the greatest songs ever, and his cover is awful and what gets me is that anyone who doesn't know the original will identify it in future as a Ronan song. Bah!

because that's such an amazing song and I heard a couple months ago he was going to do a cover version and I was just like GAH! my jaw dropped so far it hit the floor! and I seriously did feel like killing something....
