Best thing really is to have a vet check her out. If it is really inside the eye in the pupillary area (in an old dog) then it could be cataracts. If your dog is relatively young, she may still have cataracts but due to a metabolic (diabetes) or inflammatory problem and may need treatment. Catracts may or may not be operated on depending on how good or bad her vision is. HOWEVER, if the whitening is in the cornea (more superficial) then you really have to bring her to a vet or start antibiotic drops since this could be an abrasion or an ulcer and this need prompt treatment. Good luck!
Reply:sounds like she may be developing cataracts
Reply:It seems you are describing cataracts. You'll need to definately take her to the vet to confirm this. Anything that has to do with their eyes you must take seriously. You are right to be worried. You need to treat it fast so she doesn't potentially go blind. If it is cataracts, however, they will remove them and hopefully find out what the cause is so this won't happen again.

This link has some great advice as to causes, trreatments, surgeries, etc.

Reply:Sounds like cataracts. My dog has them, but at the moment the vet can still see to the back of her eye, and she has no problems. Having them checked every six months, if any deterioration occurs the vet will operate to remove them. As long as your' dog can see alright there is nothing to worry about, but you should get the vet to check it out.
Reply:If she's a older dog she could be developing cataracts
Reply:is your dog old she could be developing cataracts
Reply:you should take it to the doctors

Cataracts often appear to have a white or crushed ice appearance and are found in the lens of the eye.

take it to the vet
