I am trying to decide on names. Dad like Iris Joan. I like Olivia May. Anybody have any suggestions?

Iris Joan is a awesome name. My name is Iris and I am so happy my parents give me a name that is unlike anyone else. Olivia is kinda of a popular name and one of the worst things happen to you kid is when their are 3 other people in their class with the same name. I have yet to met some one who has herd of another person named Iris.

Olivia May is a thousand times more beautiful than Iris Joan!!! No offense to your hubby! :o) But Iris Joan sounds old-lady-ish to me. I can't help but imagine an old lady with a smoker's voice when I hear the name Iris. Yuck! But Olivia May is gorgeous and so sweet!! I don't know if you could maybe compromise and name her Olivia Jane? (Jane is close to Joan, and much prettier!) I think that is a great name too! :o) I hope that helps!! Good luck!!!
Reply:They are both beautiful names. Although I don't have a baby I do have little brothers and sisters, both of whom I had a hand in knowing. When my little sister was born my mum was tossing up between Victoria Mary or Rebecca Louise. Before seeing her I was dead set on V.M, but when I saw her little face and gestures my once decided vote was swiftly changed to Rebecca. I think the baby's personality will dictate to you - it's like a sixth sense or something. Good Luck.
Reply:Olivia May is lovely.... but Iris Joan? Does your husband like old lady names!? I know old fashioned names are in vogue again but come on (no offence to him!) Iris Joan! When I read that name straight away I pictured a little 'ol lady!

Please don't let him name the poor kid that! Your choice is much better!!!
Reply:if you dont like traditional or family names and you dont like inventing names try names from ancient times and see if there sound or meaning appeal to you. I,E, a dictionary of ancient deities has thousands of interesting names with histories.
Reply:Olivia May. Iris is a nice name also but not paired with Joan. If the Joan is not after someone special maybe uz could decide on an alternative middle name.
