I was going to plant them this weekend, but the one week every 6 months it rains, it had to be this weekend. Is it still too late to plant them? Some of them are already having stuff coming out of them. I want to get them in so they can take the place of the flowers I have that are dying. Thanks for any responses.
My mom gave me a couple bags of iris bulbs, is it too late to plant them? I'm in zone 7b/8a.?
There's still time to do it as long as the ground isn't frozen they should do fine. Just make sure you plant them to the right depth.
Reply:Iris should actually be planted in Sept or Oct but you can still plant them in your zone and have no problems. Here is a web site with some good information about irises and their culture and care. They should be fine, iries can stay out of the ground for quite a while with no problem. The only thing would be if they dried out completely and are withered and hard. If you have leaves sprouting, and the rhizomes are firm, they are OK still.

If they are bulb irises and not the tall bearded ones, there will be no problem, just plant them to their correct depth and they will be fine.
